Playtesting on Tabletop Simulator is quick and extremely effective, but nothing beats rolling actual dice and looking your opponent(s) in the eye…
What you’re seeing here is a nearly complete prototype for Forward Operations. It was a real beast to put together, but I was careful with the X-acto knife this time, so no trips to the emergency room were needed. The blocks were sourced from Columbia Games and the unit/building stickers came from Misfit Kid Studios. Everything else was printed locally or purchased from Source Comics & Games or Blick.
The only thing missing is a copy of the printed rules, which I’m still working on… Yes, I know they should be finished by now… I feel bad, but man do I hate writing rules…
I’ll probably just add the rough word document to Tabletop Simulator and BoardGameGeek soon and let everyone dive in. The “pretty” version with actual graphic design, sidebars, detailed examples, etc… can wait and isn’t technically needed to demo or play the game, but it is nice…
I’ll let you know when the rules are posted and be on the lookout for photos from our first face-to-face game.
